LLT: “Calling All Volunteers!”

From 10 am to 1 pm on Saturday, August 23rd, Lakeside Little Theatre (LLT) will host its annual Volunteer Open House, showcasing the myriad opportunities to get involved in the production of local live theater.

“For every actor who appears on stage,” explained LLT Volunteer Coordinator Amanda Timmis, “there are often as many as four other volunteers behind the scenes making it all happen, and having a lot of fun together. You don’t need to know anything. We’ll train you!”

Volunteer positions include staffing the box office and refreshment booth, greeting patrons and scanning tickets, building and painting sets, running the sound and lighting, managing the stage and moving sets, distributing posters and flyers, as well as designing ads and writing press releases. Experienced volunteers from each of these areas will be on hand at the open house to answer questions. Everyone who attends can join a tour of the entire theatre.

“A year ago I had never even stepped into a theater’s tech booth,” explained volunteer TJ Tierney, “and now I’m operating and even designing the lights. It’s very exciting, very rewarding, and I’ve met so many wonderful people who have become my friends.”

All are welcome at LLT’s Volunteer Open House, which will run from 10 am to 1 pm on Saturday, August 23rd. Admission is free.
