A stage play, not a musical, Stepping Out is a funny, enchanting tale of dance and life. Mavis Turner (Val Jones), an almost-was show dancer, finally decided to give up trying and she turned to teaching. Her weekly class of 7 women and 1 man get together in a church basement and try, with mixed success, to learn to tap dance. Mrs. Fraser (Judy Hendrick), an old friend of Mavis, is the cantankerous pianist who feels unappreciated.
The students, each with their own life problems, aren't very good at the start, but when given the opportunity to be part of an annual charity gala, Mavis drags them kicking and screaming into a delightful team performance. Join us for some laughter, get to know the class, and enjoy some terrific tap dancing by choreographer Alexis Hoff! The class is composed of Lynne (Allyson de Jong), Dorothy (Maritza Freyslinger), Maxine (D'Le Beatty-Tobias), Andy (Joanne Stuart), Geoffrey (Flemming Halby), Vera (Alexis Hoff), Sylvia (Tina Leonard) and Rose (Curly Lieberman). Dave McIntosh plays the Caretaker.
